About Hattie Sanderson
Hattie Sanderson is an artist and instructor from northern Illinois who specializes in metal clay. Metal Clay is pure silver, gold, bronze or copper in a clay form. It is a fascinating material that can easily be shaped, textured and formed into beautiful jewelry and sculpture. Once formed in the desired shape, the metal clay is heated to sintering temperatures where the organic binders burn off and the metal fuses into a solid piece. Hattie is certified to teach both Art Clay® and PMC® metal clay classes. She taught for several years at the PMC Senior Instructor level and is among the first international artists to achieve the prestigious Metal Clay Masters Registry II credential. Hattie is an artist, author, consultant and teacher. She travels internationally as a speaker and instructor and enjoys working in all types of settings that range from small groups in a local home studio to large audiences at an international venue. She is known for her enthusiastic, thorough and approachable teaching style. Her background is in the graphic design field where she worked as an art director for several years. When she and her husband began a family in the late 1980’s, Hattie stayed home to raise the children and work in her home studio. As time allowed, she explored and eventually taught classes in the fiber arts. A desire to work more three dimensionally led her to take metalsmithing classes. In the mid 1990's Hattie was introduced to metal clay. Since then, her fascination with this material has become her main focus. Hattie has won many national awards and is published in several notable books and publications. She is the creator of HattieS® brand products including instructional DVD's, HattieS Patties® and many more products that enhance the metal clay creation experience. Hattie's studio is located on the family farm in northern Illinois, USA where she and her husband raise corn, soybeans, cattle and hogs. Visit her website for more information and to view her work. www.HattieSanderson.com |
